What to Cook and How to Cook It

My shelves are packed with cookbooks.  As you may have read in Cookbook Tuesday's of past, I don't really cook from them or when I do, don't follow directions.  I guess it is because I am an Aries.  But to me cooking is, at most times, improv. You have to work with what you got and make the most of it.
What to Cook and How to Cook It by Jane Hornby, is my go to reference book.  As you can see I tagged lots of recipes.  I love this book because it is beautifully designed. Each ingredient and each step is visually laid out so for people like me who don't like following instructions this book is perfect. I am a visual learner, a monkey see, monkey do, and this book is perfect for this type of monkey.

The recipes in here are very forgiving  and with the exception of baking a lot of substitutions can be made without compromising the integrity of meal.

 I love Phaidon books.

And lastly, my favorite food moment with Robin Williams from the movie Hook. Bang-a-rang Robin Williams, RIP.
