Eating Out Xmas

Christmas shopping sucks! I usually end up buying things for myself.  Keeping in mind that I am selfish, I usually end up making a handful of things. This year I went with the standard equation of mason jar + dried fruit + booze.
It actually never fails.
So next year, or the next time you need a gift, buy some dried fruit, cheep booze and a fucking mason jar.

This Week in SnackChat

This week in SnackChat's theme is saints and sinners, the best and worst of us as seen the the food we consume.

Sinner: A liquid lunch break by: o_ahmad84
Saint: Points to chooch_o
Sinner:  Is that polystyrene?

Sinner: shaneofstrength knows that pizzas make him fart
Saint: always thinking about the gym.
Sinner:  It's from Starbucks

Saint: It has a ire glow.

Sinners: Treats came from a casket company and a cremation society. You would think a casket company would be more creative than a tin box.  I mean that is what they do for a living, make vessels for things to be put into.

Let's Take A Break.

The holla dayz can add additional stress to ones already stressful life. So let's take a break and appreciate ones selfie.

Okay back to eating shit!

Eating Out Tongue and Cheek

South Beach Miami is a whole other beast.  Racist cab drivers, amazing Cuban food and coffee, fancy clubs, dive bars and no last call. It's kinda crazy. I am a Miami virgin and I had high hopes. I wanted to meet Pitbull and Gloria Estefan at the same time and pitch to them the idea that they should collaborate.  Said project would be called the Pitbull and Gloria Against the Miami Sound Machine and it would be a great success. But that didn't happen.  What did happen is that my friends and I took way too many selfies, drank tons of Moet, and looked at a shit ton of art. I ended up jumping on my friends bed while my husband passed the fuck out and I coined the term, "This is a bed jumper."  Here is how to use it properly in a sentence:  "Did you hear that new Pitbull and Gloria Against the Miami Sound Machine?  It's a total bed jumper!"  We also saw way to many stupid shirts. I mean, "Do you even lift bro?"

We did eat really good Cuban food at the local establishment called David's Cafe.  The Cuban coffee is the stuff of dreams.  I featured Tongue and Cheek because, to me, I felt like we were at home.  It was a great brunch of steak and eggs, chicken and waffles and grits. If I wasn't facing the window and saw meatheads on Vespas, I totally would have thought I was in LA.

Eating Out Settebello: Oxnard

Eating out in my hometown is weird. One, my parents still live there and my mom is a good cook, so there is no desire to eat out.

Then The Collection happened.  Oxnard has a Whole Foods, REI, and a Yardhouse. Welcome to the 2000s Oxnard! I mean as of last year, the new hotness was a Buffalo Wild Wings. Lines out the door kind of hotness.

But the new restaurant in town that caught me off guard was Settebello. I know they have been opening up all over the place, but Oxnard? Okay, I see you Oxnard.

Eating Out Number Nine

It's getting cold out in Southern California.  When I say cold, I mean it's like 58 degrees.  It's great seeing people out in shorts with heavy jackets and a beanie. That is how you know it is really "winter" in SoCal.

Saturday night was and impromptu ladies night with Chucho.  Usually, we go to Veggie Grill and catch a rom com. Being that it is "winter" in Long Beach, we decided to eat out some pho at Number Nine on 4th street.  Pho is my jam. It just makes me feel good.   Number Nine is a fancier pho spot.  It is a scene.  But the food is good and from time to time I like to eat pho out of square bowls.

I went with the Melange, not very traditional. In place of tripe and beef balls are daikon and chicken breast chunks. In fact, Number Nine does not use tripe, intestines, or beef balls.  These are the parts I enjoy in pho but when I eat at Number Nine, since its fancy and all, I don't crave the entrails.

This Week in SnackChat

This weeks installment of This Week in SnapChat comes from two SnapChat friends.  When I say SnapChat friends, these aren't people that send me nudes, these are my actual friends and the don't send nudies...yet.  Between the videos of singing in our cars and views of our jobs they send me pictures of food.  The above picture is one that I sent out.  Oh Filipinos, this "favorite" is a bad word.

These SnackChats come from user tips1904.  Tastebuds get tired of Rolling Rock and PBR, so why not crack open a bottle of dat Dom. What I can also take is that my friends can't spell.

These SnackChats and the corresponding text message comes from chooch-o. Eating salads and hummus, getting back into shape.  Just in time for the holidays.

Yeah, I take screencaps.

When it comes to Thanksgiving we all know somebody somewhere ate something. So this being a food blog, why be conventional and bore you with what I ate? There was a turkey on the table and I was with my family. That's all you need to know.

Here comes the big question: What am I thankful for this year? I am thankful for lots of things this year and the fact that we are eating till our bellies are full is a blessing. So friends, take time to enjoy one another!

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

Whoever thought that a stick with mini cabbages bursting from every side would taste so yummy?  When asked to bring a savory greens to a PreThanksgiving dinner naturally we opted for green bean casserole, it's fucking tradition. But me being nontraditional, I made that shit from scratch.

Boom! Suck it canned cream of mushroom and crispy onions. I don't need you! We also brought the brussel sprouts; lightly burnt and dressed with red wine vinegar, mustard and bacon. It was fucking good and even the brussel haters said it was pretty tasty.

So this year, What am I thankful for?  I'm thankful that chickens lay eggs and that God made them edible. Amen.

Eating Out Staples Center

I am a Los Angeles Kings season ticket holder.  Forty two days of my life (give or take) will be spent at Staples Center.  Majority of the time the game is during the work week so I go straight from Orange County after work, straight into the hell hole that is the 405 North to the 110 North to get to the cesspool that is Downtown LA.  So no home cooked meal for me and the husband.   This time we ate at Ludo Bird.  I am a big fan of Ludo Lefebvre so I figured give this place a try.

The chicken, like me, packs a knife so instantly this has a place in my heart. Then it was honeymoon over. After ordering the house made chips, popcorn chicken, and a fried chicken sandwich, I remembered why I need to remember to pack a dinner.

Thirty dollars later we had a meal that coated the intestines with a good amount of rosemary flavored grease. YUM!  Would I eat there again? Probs, its a decent meal for Staples Center. Don't take my word for it, the LA Times has a legit article HERE.

This Week in SnackChat

This Week in SnackChat features the SnackChats my friends send via SnapChat. This week I have two.  Why only two?  Well, I just came up with the idea on Wednesday.

Yeah, this is one that I sent. So what?

This is one that SnapChat user chooch-o sent me. Doesn't look like a snack to me, but I'll take it.

What's for Dinner

What ingredient can I add to my soup to make a sick grumpy husband feel better?

Eizelle Eats Out

My name is Eizelle and I love eating food, but I'm not a fucking foodie. I can cook. So not only can I dish it, but I can literally dish it.  By all means, I am not a chef.  I work full time at a desk like a veil and oddly enough, I don't eat veil.

Here you will find my current musings of food, drinks and anything else that passes though my mouth.

So hello, enjoy, and I hope one day I can eat out with you.
