NSFW Cake

I gave you a fair warning.

There comes a point in ones life where you think to yourself you will never make a cake that is fashioned like a newborn passing though a birth canal.  I am not a professional baker, I dabble here and there, but when it comes to sweets, I would not say it is a strong point. But when a good friend asks, my friend, you shall receive. 

This cake, which I will let the pictures do the talking, is the end of trilogy of events surrounding the celebration of birth of Max Rico. It started with the gender reveal cake, a therapeutic cook session and then this. The high point of my baking career and the culmination of a lot time spent watching Ace of Cakes.  It was served at the Pike. I also lead the party games.  It's been an adventure and I cannot wait to meet this little human being.  

The cake was a basil infused white cake with a strawberry crumb, fresh strawberries, and a goat cheese frosting. Can't forget rainbow sprinkle pubes and sugar and lemon macerated strawberry after birth. It was three layers and pretty good! Even for a non-cake eater like me. Everyone had a laugh and it was consumed. 

You may be asking yourself, "Is that an ICP baby?" The answer is yes. He was made for a Halloween party we had a long time ago and now he spends his days in my designer toy closet but on this day, it was his second day to shine.  

Cake and Frosting Recipe was from My Name is Yeh. 

I subbed the rosemary with basil in the cake.  I used the extra milk as a soak before I frosted the cake.  I also used it in molding the structure of the vag.  

For the frosting, I subbed goat cheese for the mascarpone.  

For the crumb, I used the Momofuku Milk Bar recipe.  I added freeze dried strawberries to the last part of the crumb process.
